Salt and Sand is the second painting in my plein air beach series. This piece is all about the quiet, simple beauty of the shoreline—the meeting place of sea and land. The soft tones of sand, the steady rhythm of the waves, and the gentle play of light on water came together in a way that invited me to pause and paint.
While my grandkids played nearby and the day unfolded in laughter and splashing, I set up my easel to capture that peaceful stretch of coast. There’s something grounding about the edge of the ocean, where the tide leaves its marks and the air carries the unmistakable scent of salt.
This painting is a reminder of those in-between moments—resting, watching, and simply being present at the water’s edge.
